Teen Tennis Phenom Victoria Mboko Breaks Into WTA Top 10 at 19

Canadian teen sensation Victoria Mboko has officially entered the Top 10 in the PIF WTA Rankings, capping a meteoric 12-month rise. Just one year ago, she was ranked No. 333, competing on the ITF Circuit before a breakthrough season propelled her upward.
Mboko started 2025 with four consecutive ITF titles, igniting a record-breaking 323-spot climb that took her from outside the Top 300 to the elite ranks in just 357 days—the fastest ascent since Jennifer Capriati in 1990.
Her defining moment came at the WTA 1000 National Bank Open in Montreal, where she entered as a wildcard and defeated Coco Gauff, Elena Rybakina, and Naomi Osaka to lift the trophy, becoming only the second wildcard ever to win the tournament. Mboko capped 2025 with a WTA 250 Hong Kong Open victory, finishing the year inside the Top 20.
Carrying momentum into 2026, Mboko reached her first WTA 500 final in Adelaide and the fourth round of the Australian Open, followed by a runner-up finish at the Qatar TotalEnergies Open in Doha, which secured her Top 10 debut—the first player this season to achieve this feat.
At 19, she is the youngest player in the Top 10 since Mirra Andreeva, marking the first time in over 15 years that two teenagers occupy the elite ranks simultaneously. She also becomes only the fourth Canadian woman to reach this milestone, joining Carling Bassett–Seguso, Eugenie Bouchard, and Bianca Andreescu.
Mboko has already notched four wins over Top 10 opponents, defeating Coco Gauff, Madison Keys, Mirra Andreeva, and Elena Rybakina. Her next major challenge will be a maiden appearance at Indian Wells, where former finalist Eugenie Bouchard predicts a deep run.
This rapid rise cements Mboko as one of the most exciting young talents in women’s tennis, combining consistency, skill, and poise well beyond her years.
