Kaduna PDP Candidate Unveils Ambitious 2027 Agenda: Resource Equity & People-Driven Budgets
Kaduna State's PDP governorship candidate, Usman Shehu Bawa (Shehu ABG), has pledged equitable resource distribution and a bottom-up governance approach if elected in 2027. During a town hall meeting in Zaria, attended by diverse stakeholders and his running mate Amos Adamu Gandu, Bawa emphasized people-centred policies and a government founded on fairness and accountability. The party is actively mobilizing support for the upcoming elections.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Kaduna State, Usman Shehu Bawa, popularly known as Shehu ABG, has outlined his comprehensive vision for the state should he be elected governor in 2027. A cornerstone of his campaign is the promise of equitable distribution of resources across all three senatorial zones of the state. Bawa emphasized that his administration would prioritize the needs and priorities of citizens, making them the fundamental basis for budget preparation and implementation. This commitment underscores his proposed adoption of a bottom-up approach to governance, ensuring that policies and projects genuinely reflect community requirements rather than externally imposed priorities.
These pledges were prominently featured during a recent town hall meeting with PDP stakeholders in the Kaduna North Senatorial Zone, which took place in Zaria over the weekend. The meeting, which aimed to intensify the party's mobilization efforts ahead of the 2027 governorship election, attracted a diverse range of participants. Attendees included religious leaders, student groups, various women and youth organizations, community development associations, key party officials, and candidates vying for different positions under the PDP banner.
Usman Shehu Bawa, who was accompanied by his running mate, Amos Adamu Gandu, further elaborated on his vision, stating that his government would be built on principles of fairness, accountability, and a profound respect for the rule of law. He passionately urged residents to lend their support to the PDP in the upcoming election, highlighting that his administration would empower citizens with a decisive voice in shaping government programs and projects. This focus on people-centred policies is central to his agenda.
Other prominent party figures also shared their perspectives at the gathering. Alhaji Danbaba SayaSaya, the party’s Zonal Chairman, encouraged all PDP candidates to personally engage with voters, directly conveying their campaign messages and explaining how their manifestos would address the challenges faced by the residents. SayaSaya conveyed a strong sense of optimism regarding the party's electoral prospects, suggesting a positive future for the PDP.
Similarly, the state PDP Chairman, Edward Percy Marsha, made a poignant appeal to the residents, urging them not to be misled again. He drew a clear distinction between the democratic dividends delivered under PDP-led governance and the experiences with administrations led by other political parties. Marsha's remarks were part of the party's broader strategy to position itself as a viable alternative to the current leadership in Kaduna State. In their separate contributions, the various groups present, including religious leaders, student representatives, community development associations, and women and youth groups, unanimously expressed their support for Bawa’s candidacy and warmly received the manifesto presented at the meeting.
