Spider-Man fans are currently enjoying a proliferation of content across various media, with multiple highly anticipated projects in development. This includes the eagerly awaited return of Tom Holland as Spider-Man in Destin Daniel Cretton’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day, slated for release in just a few months. This film will see Holland’s Peter Parker grappling with the aftermath of 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home and teaming up with Jon Bernthal’s Punisher and Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner against a new threat. There is also the upcoming Prime Video series, Spider-Noir, which will bring Nicolas Cage’s character into a live-action world. Additionally, an animated Venom movie is in the works, and a Daniel Kaluuya-led Spider-Punk spin-off film is in development.

The animated Spider-Verse saga is set to conclude with Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, scheduled to hit cinemas on June 18, 2027. This third and final installment picks up directly from the jaw-dropping cliffhanger of 2023’s Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. At CinemaCon’s opening evening, Sony unveiled a first look at the movie, with writers Chris Miller and Phil Lord, alongside helmers Bob Persichetti and Justin K Thompson, presenting an early clip. The sneak peek welcomed audiences to the “final chapter of Miles’ story,” opening with Miles Morales (Shameik Moore) alone and confused in a parallel universe, grappling with the absence of Spider-Man there.

The clip showed Miles encountering his Uncle Aaron (Mahershala Ali) and an alternate, villainous version of himself as The Prowler. Miles attempts to persuade this duo to help prevent his father, Jefferson Davis’s (Brian Tyree Henry), death. When negotiations fail, Miles uses his powers to escape, leading into the visually dazzling animated world. Fans can expect to see familiar faces return, including Spider-Gwen (Hailee Steinfeld), Spider Ham (John Mulaney), and Peter B. Parker (Jake Johnson), alongside new and returning cast members such as Lauren Vélez, Issa Rae, and Karan Soni.

New images from the film also offer glimpses into key plot points. One image shows Miles reuniting with his father, Jefferson Davis, whom he hopes to save from The Spot’s (Jason Schwartzman) multiversal threat. Another features Miles in a chokehold from his arch-rival, Miguel O'Hara (aka Spider-Man 2099, voiced by Oscar Isaac), now sporting a more sinister black and white suit. A third image depicts a younger Jefferson Davis alongside his estranged brother, Aaron Davis, likely before Aaron became The Prowler, a Kingpin enforcer (voiced by Liev Schreiber). Lastly, Spider-Punk, Hobie Brown (Daniel Kaluuya), is seen returning to aid in saving Jefferson from The Spot, which ties into Kaluuya's upcoming spin-off project. Greta Lee also lends her voice to the ensemble cast. The film’s official release date is June 18, 2027, with some listings showing June 20, 2027.
