Rihanna Sparks R9 Buzz After Late-Night Studio Tease and Marathon Work Session

Global superstar Rihanna has sent fans into a frenzy after posting an 80-second behind-the-scenes video that hints new music may finally be on the way.
The clip, shared Thursday night (Feb. 26), documents an exhausting all-night schedule — blending fashion meetings, studio time, and motherhood — while subtly teasing progress on her long-awaited ninth studio album, widely referred to as “R9.”
Savage X Fenty Boss Mode Activated
The night began just before 10 p.m. with a meeting for her fashion brand Savage X Fenty, where Rihanna reviewed colors and patterns with her team.
The nearly three-hour session ran until 1:45 a.m., soundtracked by Chic’s 1978 hit “Le Freak”. The mood ended playfully, with her team jokingly approving sketches in a late-night haze.
Before leaving, she signed vinyl copies of her classic albums:
Loud (2010)
Music of the Sun (2005)
Good Girl Gone Bad (2007)
3 A.M. Studio Session Fuels R9 Speculation
Despite the late hour, Rihanna announced her next stop: the recording studio.
By 3 a.m., she was seen adjusting the console, writing lyrics, and vibing to unheard tracks while wrapped in a blanket and puffer coat. Though the clip featured no audio, fans quickly interpreted it as a major R9 hint.
The message “STILL NO SLEEP” flashed on screen as the clock approached 7 a.m., underscoring the relentless pace.
Mom Mode Before Sunrise
After her studio session, Rihanna switched into full mom mode, crafting a Mardi Gras costume with a hot glue gun while Chaka Khan’s classic “I’m Every Woman” played in the background.
She shares three children with partner A$AP Rocky.
By 8 a.m., her son debuted his festive outfit, and by 9:30 a.m., Rihanna — wearing a bedazzled Mardi Gras mask and pink Savage X Fenty sweatsuit — was doing school drop-off.
A Career Still at Full Throttle
This late-night hustle adds to a résumé that includes:
Celebrating the 10th anniversary of ANTI (2016)
Headlining the Super Bowl LVIII Halftime Show
Releasing “Lift Me Up” for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever
Voicing Smurfette in The Smurfs
While no official album announcement has been made, the studio footage alone has reignited excitement across the Navy.
If this glimpse is any indication, R9 may finally be closer than ever.
