Queen Of Talk Show: What Is Next For Morayo Afolabi Brown?

For more than a decade, Morayo Afolabi Brown sat at the centre of Nigeria’s daily conversations, probing power, moderating conflict, and translating national anxieties into televised dialogue. Her exit from TVC in 2025 marked the end of one of the most influential chapters in Nigerian broadcast journalism, not with noise, but with intention. At the time, it appeared to be a pause. It was, in fact, a recalibration.

Now, she returns not as an employee of a media institution, but as an institution in herself. The Morayo Show, launching this Thursday, represents a decisive shift from inherited platforms to owned vision.

It is the next logical step in a career marked by editorial courage, intellectual discipline, and a commitment to substance over spectacle. The question is no longer whether Morayo Afolabi Brown will shape public discourse, but how far she intends to take it next.

Introducing The Morayo Show

The Queen of Talk Show, Morayo Afolabi-Brown, today pulled back the curtain on her much-anticipated project, The Morayo Show, during an exclusive media parley at MAB Studios, Ikeja-Lagos.

Key media figures, including Mr Kayode Akintemi, Editor-in-Chief of News Central Television, Mrs Princess Roseary Afolayan, Director of Commercial and Communication, News Central Television, Mr Folarin, Director of Productions at TVC, and other reputable industry figures were present. Their presence highlighted the industry support for the initiative, while journalists and media personnel formed the audience, documenting the proceedings.

After 12 years of hosting Your View, Morayo recently resigned from TVC to focus on this passion project, describing it as the most significant decision of her career. The parley offered the first detailed look at her vision for authentic storytelling, audience engagement, and media innovation in Nigeria.

“Today is about transition and the courage to be more,” Morayo said, introducing herself and acknowledging that for the past 12 years, she has helped shape Nigeria’s talk television landscape. Deciding to leave TVC and start something for herself, she explained, was one of the boldest moves of her career. She realised that her vision had grown bigger: she was no longer content with sitting and talking to people, she wanted to start talking with them.

The Morayo Studios is not just a bigger facility, a new space, or a fresh start; it is a place for dialogue, a platform for deep voices to be heard. According to her, Nigeria does not suffer from a lack of opinions; it suffers from a lack of listening. Her talk show is designed to bring people into the conversation, not as spectators, but as participants. Real people, real issues, real stories, real questions, and real solutions.

During the session, Morayo explained that The Morayo Show is designed as a platform for dialogue, creativity, and cultural storytelling, offering all Nigerians opportunities to engage both online and in-studio. She also highlighted that the average Nigerian wants to be seen, heard and felt. They are loud, young and are searching for answers. They also want conversations that do not talk down to them.

“The Morayo Show is designed to empower voices, celebrate authenticity, and foster meaningful conversations, focusing on real-life stories rather than perfection,” Morayo said.

The first show will be on January 5th, 2026, and there will be a two-week publicity program for the show. There will also be a website where Nigerians will be able to book a seat for a session by signing up online as a guest.

While booking a seat is free, registration is compulsory. The show gives room for Interactive Audience Engagement, allowing viewers to register online and attend live as participants on the show, contributing directly to discussions.

The MAB show will have three segments

  • The First Segment is the “Hot Topics”, which will cover trending issues in the country.

  • The Second Segment is the human interest stories: highlighting inspiring experiences of everyday Nigerians. Every tribe and religion will be fully represented. She explained that the show is not political, and it was specifically created for the Nigerian People.

  • The Third Segment is the standard segment is the part where guests will be invited and interviewed. The show also aims to look into real-life issues, issues on health, business or education.

The show would be airing live on News Central channel by 7 pm on Channel 274 on Startimes, Channel 23 on GoTV, and on YouTube.

Morayo emphasised that the show will be inclusive, dynamic, with sponsors and partners supporting both production and audience participation. Industry executives at the parley expressed confidence that the program will strengthen Nigerian storytelling and inspire the next generation of media professionals.

The parley included a walkthrough of the newly built studio, featuring modern production equipment, versatile filming spaces, and areas designed for live audience participation.

Observers noted the bright, contemporary interiors and state-of-the-art technology, reflecting a commitment to high-quality content creation and providing a professional environment for collaboration and storytelling.

The official launch of The Morayo Show is scheduled for Thursday, 18th December 2025, with media representatives and attendees encouraged to register online and follow updates leading to the premiere.

This isn’t the end of Morayo Afolabi Brown’s career; it is just the beginning. This time around, it’s bigger, bolder, and better.
