Ghana Education Service Confirms Full Placement for Freshers, Sets September 18 Report Date

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has officially affirmed that all Junior High School (JHS) graduates who have successfully completed the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) are guaranteed placement in Senior High and Technical Schools across the nation.

In a statement released on Thursday, May 14, the management of GES extended warm congratulations to all the graduates, confirming that extensive preparations have been meticulously undertaken to welcome freshers on September 18, 2026.

The service emphasized its commitment, stating, “All qualified candidates will be placed in schools. Every effort has been made to ensure that each student has access to senior high and technical education.”

The GES proactively addressed and debunkedrecent media reports that suggested approximately 72,000 students might face challenges in securing placement.

These claims were firmly characterized as “speculative,” and the public was urged to disregard them.

Management unequivocally stated that the country’s existing infrastructure, facilities, and administrative support are robust and fully adequate to accommodate all eligible students, thereby ensuring a smooth transition for incoming learners.

Furthermore, the Ghana Education Service provided reassurances to all stakeholders regarding the ongoing initiatives to gradually phase out the double-track system.

Contrary to any concerns, these reforms are not expected to hinder students' access to education. Instead, the changes are anticipated to significantly enhance the overall quality of teaching and learning environments, while steadfastly maintaining full access for every pupil.

The GES reiterated its profound commitment to delivering equitable, inclusive, and high-quality education to every Ghanaian child, calling upon all parents, educators, policymakers, and the wider community to lend their invaluable support to this crucial national objective.
