Arrest in Orile murder, DCI Searches for Phone Linked to Kasipul MP's Murder

Lagos State Police have apprehended Abubakar Iliyasu, the primary suspect in the murder of 65-year-old Jane Okoye, which occurred on April 2, 2025, in Orile Iganmu, Lagos. According to police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin, Iliyasu allegedly broke into Okoye’s home, stole her Toyota Sienna and other belongings, and left her unconscious. She later died at a medical facility.

The State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Yaba launched an investigation using technical and intelligence methods, leading to Iliyasu's arrest in Ankpa, Kogi State. The stolen vehicle was recovered. Iliyasu is currently detained at SCID, Yaba, cooperating with investigators. Police Commissioner Olohundare Jimoh has assured the public that Iliyasu will be prosecuted, reinforcing the command’s dedication to safety and justice.

Separately, Kenyan newspapers report on the investigation into the murder of Kasipul Member of Parliament Charles Ong'ondo Were and political developments involving opposition leaders and President William Ruto.

Rigathi Gachagua hosted opposition leaders, including Ms. Karua, who expressed their determination to liberate the country and address the suffering of Kenyans.
