Detectives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested 32-year-old Abubakar Iliyasu in connection with the murder of 65-year-old Mrs. Jane Okoye in Orile-Iganmu, Lagos, on April 2.

According to Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, Iliyasu was tracked down and apprehended in Ankpa, Kogi State, after a thorough investigation by homicide detectives from the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Yaba.

Investigations revealed that Iliyasu allegedly forced his way into Mrs. Okoye’s residence, attacked her, and fled with her Toyota Sienna and other valuables. She was found unconscious at the scene and later died in the hospital.

The SCID deployed intelligence and technical resources to track and arrest the suspect, recovering the stolen vehicle in good condition.

Hundeyin confirmed that Iliyasu is in custody and assisting investigators, while Commissioner of Police CP Olohunde Jimoh assured Lagos residents that justice will be served, reaffirming the Command’s commitment to public safety.

“The suspect will be prosecuted after the investigation,” he said.

The recovered vehicle has been secured as part of the ongoing investigation.
