Tinubu's Daughter Ignites Lagos APC Primaries Storm with Protest Threat!

Mrs. Folashade Tinubu-Ojo, the Iyaloja-General of Nigeria and daughter of President Bola Tinubu, has issued a strong warning regarding the integrity of the recent All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries in Lagos State. She has threatened to lead a protest, alleging widespread manipulation of the electoral exercise in favor of the Justice Forum bloc within the party. These remarks were made during a weekly gathering of market leaders and stakeholders held at her office in Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos.
Specifically, Tinubu-Ojo highlighted three constituencies where she claims the announced results did not accurately reflect the true outcome of the primaries: Mushin Federal Constituency II, Agege Constituency II, and Ojokoro Constituency. This accusation comes after the Lagos State chapter of the APC released the official list of candidates who emerged from both the House of Representatives and Lagos State House of Assembly primaries, in preparation for the 2027 general election. The list, signed by Lagos State APC chairman Cornelius Ojelabi, confirmed 24 candidates for the House of Representatives and 40 for the State House of Assembly, including Mojisola Meranda for Apapa I, Musibau Lawal for Apapa II, Barakat Bakare-Odunuga for Surulere I, and Damilola Ayinde-Marshall for Surulere II.
However, Mrs. Tinubu-Ojo vehemently insisted that several aspirants were unjustly denied their mandates despite genuinely winning the primaries. She named Hon. Seye Oladejo in Mushin Constituency II, Mutiu Olaide Oladeebo in Agege II, and Olotu Ojo in Ojokoro as the rightful winners. She stated, "We are ready to protest because of Seye Oladejo of Mushin Federal Constituency 02, Mutiu Olaide Oladeebo of Agege 2 constituency, Olotu Ojo of Ojokoro constituency, because we know they won this election. Their mandate should not be given to somebody else."
She urged APC leaders at both the state and national levels to conduct a thorough investigation into the disputed primaries before the final ratification of the results. Tinubu-Ojo cautioned that unaddressed grievances could severely exacerbate internal divisions within the ruling party, potentially jeopardizing party unity as the 2027 governorship and general elections approach. She specifically pointed to the growing rivalry between the Justice Forum and Mandate Group factions within the APC, expressing concern that the perception of Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat, a governorship aspirant, belonging to the Justice Forum was causing an imbalance where others were unfairly aligning with or favoring that bloc.
Calling for an end to factionalism, she appealed, "We have to cry out now. Let APC cancel Justice and Mandate Forums. We are one family. We are for APC." She further lamented the alleged manipulation, stating, "I can’t understand members of Mandate Group dumping Mandate and joining Justice Forum. And if Mandate won the election, they would try to manipulate and put Justice Forum members there. It is saddening. It is a way of telling us that hard work does not pay in politics. Something must be done about it." She emphasized that any governor, including Hamzat if elected, must govern all citizens impartially.
Despite her criticisms of the primary process, Tinubu-Ojo reaffirmed the unwavering support of market women across Lagos State for Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat's governorship ambition and for other APC candidates. Simultaneously, she advocated for greater political inclusion for traders and market stakeholders, stressing that they constitute a significant voting bloc in Lagos politics and deserve adequate recognition in governance and political appointments.
