Rolling Stones Legend Mick Jagger Eager for New Tour Dates

Mick Jagger has expressed a strong desire to return to touring with The Rolling Stones, stating, “I’d love to go on tour, I can’t wait.” However, fans should manage their expectations for an immediate announcement, as Jagger clarified, “I don’t think it’s going to be this year. But hopefully it’s going to be as soon as possible.” These remarks follow previous reports of the band scrapping plans for a U.K. and European stadium tour initially set for 2026, reportedly due to Keith Richards being unable to commit. Richards has since hinted at a potential return to the road in 2027, a possibility that Jagger’s latest comments further reinforce.
These updates on the band's touring future come ahead of the release of The Rolling Stones' 25th studio album, titled "Foreign Tongues," which is scheduled to drop on July 10. The album, produced by Andrew Watt—who also helmed their 2024 release, "Hackney Diamonds"—was recorded in under a month at Metropolis Studios in West London. "Foreign Tongues" boasts an impressive list of guest artists, including Paul McCartney, The Cure’s Robert Smith, Steve Winwood, and features the work of the late Charlie Watts.
Jagger shared an amusing anecdote about how the collaboration with Robert Smith came to be. He recounted encountering Smith at an industry event, noting his distinctive appearance. “He was standing there with his back to me and this long gown on and when he turned around, he was covered in lipstick,” Jagger recalled. Upon recognizing him, Jagger seized the opportunity, saying, “You’re Robert Smith of The Cure… While you’re here, you better go and do something.” This spontaneous interaction highlights the serendipitous nature of some musical partnerships.
Paul McCartney, who also contributed to "Hackney Diamonds," spoke to NME about his involvement in the new album, describing it as “really exciting.” He enjoyed the straightforward process, stating, “It was really nice to just show up at a studio with your bass and just say, ‘Right, where do you want me?'” McCartney reflected on the unique experience, adding, “You start playing, and they show you the song, and I start thinking, ‘I’m playing with the Stones!'”
"Foreign Tongues" will include previously released tracks such as “Rough and Twisted” and “In the Stars.” Additionally, the album features a cover of Amy Winehouse’s “You Know I’m No Good.” The complete tracklist was unveiled earlier in the month, with song titles notably appearing on streaming devices listed in various foreign languages, adding an intriguing element to the album's presentation.
The release of "Foreign Tongues" follows the success of "Hackney Diamonds," which debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 in 2024. This marked the band’s highest chart position in the U.S. since their 1994 album, "Voodoo Lounge," which reached No. 2, underscoring their enduring appeal and commercial success after decades in the music industry.
