Rolling Stones Spark Global Frenzy with Mysterious ‘Foreign Tongues’ Project Tease!

After over six decades in the music industry, The Rolling Stones continue to demonstrate their enduring relevance with a mysterious new project, seemingly titled "Foreign Tongues." The legendary British rock band has launched a cryptic marketing campaign across their official social media platforms, featuring images of posters in various global cities. These posters prominently display the band's iconic lips logo alongside the phrase "Familiar Tongues" translated into multiple languages.
The campaign further engages fans with a QR code embedded on the posters, which directs users to a dedicated Rolling Stones microsite. This site includes a page for "Subversive Scents," offering products named after classic Stones recordings such as "Sticky Fingers" and "Urban Jungle," hinting at a broader creative endeavor beyond just music.
This latest enigmatic initiative follows a similar postering exercise for the band's alter egos, The Cockroaches, which also utilized QR codes. That previous campaign led users to a website managed by Universal Music, the Stones' record label. Concurrently, a limited-edition vinyl-only release titled "Rough & Twisted" was launched, adding to the intrigue surrounding the band's activities.
The Rolling Stones' last studio album, "Hackney Diamonds," was released in 2023. This 24th studio collection was a critically acclaimed success, featuring collaborations with music luminaries like Paul McCartney, Elton John, Lady Gaga, and Stevie Wonder. It notably included the final recordings from the late drummer Charlie Watts and went on to win a Grammy Award for Best Rock Album, solidifying the band's continued artistic prowess.
Looking ahead, there are indications of another new album in the pipeline. Andrew Watt, who produced "Hackney Diamonds," confirmed in September that he is also producing the follow-up, which would mark the band's first new studio effort in over 15 years. Watt described the experience as "working for Batman," and while he confirmed recording sessions, he remained tight-lipped about further details. In the same month, Rolling Stone Ronnie Wood assured fans that a new album was indeed expected in 2026.
Despite the exciting prospect of new music, reports emerged in December regarding the alleged cancellation of a previously planned 2026 U.K./European tour, though these dates were never officially announced by the band. A report cited an unnamed source close to the band, suggesting that the tour plans were withdrawn because guitarist Keith Richards, at 82 years old, was reportedly unable to commit to another demanding road outing.
