President Ruto's Safety Alert: DCI Arrests Man for Threatening Kenyan Leader!

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have apprehended Peter Maingi Kimani, also known as Menelik Kimani, in Gachage, Kiganjo, within Gatundu South Sub-County. The arrest, confirmed by several media outlets, took place on Thursday, 26 February 2026, and followed the circulation of a viral video in which Kimani allegedly made threats against President William Ruto and other government officials.
According to investigators, Kimani recorded and subsequently posted the video on his TikTok account earlier in the week. The clip, which authorities described as containing direct threats toward the President, quickly gained traction across various social media platforms, leading the DCI to initiate a comprehensive investigation. Detectives meticulously traced his digital activity, which ultimately led them to his location where he was reportedly hiding after publishing the contentious video.
In the footage, Kimani is alleged to have directly addressed President Ruto, issuing a stark warning: “President William Ruto; ignore me at your own risk.” He also challenged the President’s democratic legitimacy, asserting that “a real king doesn’t come through the ballot box, a real king comes from the battlefield.”
Furthermore, investigators report that Kimani claimed a royal and biblical lineage, referring to himself as “Menelik, son of King Solomon, son of King David.” He argued that leadership should be acquired through force rather than through electoral processes. Authorities additionally allege that Kimani issued a seven-day ultimatum, demanding that the President assemble an “army for war.” He warned that if his demand was not met, he would personally “visit State House” to determine the President’s fate. As of now, the DCI has not disclosed the specific charges Kimani may face, as investigations into the matter are still ongoing.
