A political support group, the Northern Nigeria Support Group for Seyi Makinde, has launched a campaign to mobilise support for the Oyo State governor ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

The group organised a prayer session and horse race in Kano, saying the initiative was aimed at introducing Makinde to more Nigerians as a credible presidential contender. Its National President, Babangida Abubakar Haruna (Sardauna), said Makinde's record in infrastructure and governance demonstrates his capacity to lead the country.

Haruna also praised the governor for remaining loyal to his political party despite what he described as pressure to defect. He said Makinde's consistency, integrity, and leadership style have earned the confidence of the group, adding that his performance in Oyo State should serve as a benchmark for Nigerians assessing his suitability for the presidency.

According to him, the campaign activities were designed to strengthen the governor's appeal, particularly across Northern Nigeria.

The group further described Makinde as a unifying leader with strong relationships across the country and appealed to Nigerians to support his presidential ambition.
