Kaizer Chiefs are entering a critical phase as they prepare for the eagerly awaited Soweto Derby against Orlando Pirates.

Co-coach Cedric Kaze has shared updates on the team’s injury status, giving fans both encouraging and cautious news.

Five players are currently unavailable or not fully fit.

Inacio Miguel, sidelined since his Carling Cup injury against Stellenbosch, has participated in two light training sessions and will be assessed on Thursday to determine derby readiness.

Sibongiseni Mthethwa, nicknamed “Ox,” has trained for five sessions but is not yet fully fit.

Etiosa Ighodaro has not rejoined training and is out, while George Matlou and Rushwin Dortley are confirmed unavailable due to injuries.

On a brighter note, Thabo Cele and Bradley Cross have fully recovered and are ready to feature in the match.

The first Soweto Derby of the season is scheduled for Saturday, February 28, at 15:30 CAT at the iconic FNB Stadium in Johannesburg.
