Kaduna PDP Candidate Pledges Fair Resource Distribution and People-Driven Budgets

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Kaduna State, Usman Shehu Bawa, popularly known as Shehu ABG, has pledged to ensure equitable distribution of resources across the state’s three senatorial zones if elected governor in 2027. He also promised to make citizens’ needs and priorities the basis for budget preparation and implementation, adopting a bottom-up approach to governance.

Bawa said the proposed approach would allow communities to influence government policies and projects rather than have priorities imposed on them. He made the commitments at a town hall meeting with PDP stakeholders from Kaduna North Senatorial Zone in Zaria over the weekend.

The meeting, organised as part of the party’s mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 governorship election, attracted religious leaders, student groups, women and youth organisations, Community Development Associations, party officials and PDP candidates contesting various positions.

Accompanied by his running mate, Amos Adamu Gandu, Bawa said his proposed administration would be guided by fairness, accountability and respect for the rule of law. He urged residents to support the PDP, saying citizens would have a greater role in shaping government programmes and projects. His pledges centred on a people-driven model of governance in which development priorities would be informed by community needs.

PDP zonal chairman Alhaji Danbaba SayaSaya urged the party’s candidates to engage directly with voters and explain how their manifestos would address local challenges, while expressing optimism about the party’s prospects. State chairman Edward Percy Marsha also urged residents not to be misled, contrasting what he described as the benefits of PDP-led governance with their experience under other parties.

His remarks formed part of the party’s effort to present itself as an alternative to the current administration in Kaduna State. Representatives of the religious, student, community, women, and youth groups at the meeting expressed support for Bawa’s candidacy and welcomed the manifesto presented.
