Chaos at Disney: Employee Hospitalized After Horrific Indiana Jones Stunt Malfunction!

During a showing of the “Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular!” stage show at Disney World Hollywood Studios, a cast member was struck by a 400-pound rubber prop boulder. The incident occurred when the large sphere became displaced from its designated track, bouncing onto the stage.
A video shared on social media captured the sequence of events, showing a staff member rushing in an attempt to halt the rogue boulder before it could make contact with the audience. However, the force of the prop was too great, knocking the individual over. Another cast member quickly intervened to offer assistance before the video concluded.
Disney has confirmed the incident, stating that the cast member received immediate care and is currently recovering. A Disney spokesperson informed Variety, “We’re focused on supporting our cast member, who is recovering.” The company emphasized its commitment to safety, adding, “Safety is at the heart of what we do, and that element of the show will be modified as our safety team completes a review of what happened.”
The “Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular!” is a highlight of the Discovery Disney event series. According to the Disney Parks Blog, this series offers “educational backstage tours and sessions just for participants on the program to learn more about how our parks and resorts create magic for guests.” The show itself is inspired by action sequences from the iconic 1981 Steven Spielberg-directed film, “Raiders of the Lost Ark,” which stars Harrison Ford as the titular adventurer.
Beyond the well-known boulder stunt, the show at Disney World incorporates a variety of other elaborate actions. These include a bullwhip demonstration, dramatic falls from tall structures, and thrilling encounters with axe-swinging stone soldiers and punji stick pressure plates. The official description for the show details that performers have dozens of “contingencies” in place for situations where things might go awry, with the very first scene, involving only the Indiana Jones performer, having 12 possible backups to ensure safety and continuity.
