Bieber’s Coachella Buzz Sends Journals and Other Albums Soaring on Billboard 200!

The first weekend of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival (April 10–12) gave a big boost to music charts.
After performing, Sabrina Carpenter, Justin Bieber, and Karol G all saw their albums rise on the Billboard 200.
Justin Bieber stood out the most as he had seven albums on the chart at once, a new record for him. All of them gained more listeners.
His album SWAG jumped to No. 7, mostly because of millions of streams, and other older albums like Purpose, Believe, and My World 2.0 also returned to the chart.
In short, Coachella helped boost their music and brought Bieber’s old hits back to life.
Perhaps the most notable entry for Bieber was the debut of his 12-year-old album, *Journals*, which entered at No. 111 with nearly 13,000 units earned (up 192%).
Originally released exclusively for purchase in the iTunes Store on December 23, 2013, *Journals* did not initially debut on the Billboard 200 because iTunes sales were not reported to Luminate (then Nielsen SoundScan).
Over time, the album became widely available across digital download and streaming services, as well as on CD and vinyl, but this week marks the first time it amassed enough activity to chart in a single week.
This collection of seven concurrent chart entries is the most Bieber has ever achieved, surpassing his previous record of four in January 2012.
Sabrina Carpenter also experienced significant chart success, with two titles making their mark. Her former No. 1 album, *Man’s Best Friend*, re-entered the top 10, climbing from No. 18 to No. 10.
It earned 40,000 equivalent album units, representing a 44% increase, predominantly from streaming activity (34,000 SEA units, equaling 34.39 million on-demand official streams).
Carpenter’s previous set, *Short n’ Sweet*, also saw a strong jump, moving from No. 24 to No. 17 with nearly 31,000 units, a 23% rise.
Rounding out the Coachella headliners, Karol G's album *Tropicoqueta* re-entered the Billboard 200 at No. 116 with nearly 13,000 units, marking a 51% increase in activity.
The Billboard 200 chart comprehensively ranks the most popular albums in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption, as measured in equivalent album units compiled by Luminate.
These units are a combination of album sales, Track Equivalent Albums (TEA), and Streaming Equivalent Albums (SEA).
Each equivalent album unit corresponds to one album sale, or ten individual tracks sold from an album, or 2,500 ad-supported official audio and video streams, or 1,000 paid/subscription on-demand official audio and video streams generated by songs from an album.
The full April 25, 2026-dated chart was posted on Billboard’s website on April 21. Any additional gains stemming from the headliners' performances during the second weekend of Coachella (April 17-19) will be reflected on the subsequent May 1-dated chart.
