Rising Star Ella Langley's 'Dandelion' Shoots to No. 1 on Billboard 200

Ella Langley has achieved a significant milestone in her career, securing her first No. 1 spot on the prestigious Billboard 200 albums chart with her sophomore studio album, "Dandelion." The album debuted atop the chart dated April 25, 2026, marking a remarkable success for the country artist. During the week ending April 16, "Dandelion" amassed an impressive 169,000 equivalent album units in the United States, as reported by Luminate, the independent data provider for Billboard charts.

This achievement is particularly noteworthy as it represents the largest week for a country album by a woman in two years, and the biggest week of 2026 for any woman artist across all genres. Prior to its chart-topping debut, "Dandelion" was supported by the highly successful crossover hit "Choosin' Texas," which itself spent 20 weeks at No. 1 on Hot Country Songs, six weeks on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100, and three weeks leading the Country Airplay chart.

The success of "Dandelion" also contributes to a historic trend on the Billboard 200. With its No. 1 debut following Megan Moroney's "Cloud 9" also reaching No. 1 on the March 7-dated chart, 2026 marks the first time in over a decade that two No. 1 country albums by two different solo women have occurred in a single calendar year. The last instance was in 2012 with Taylor Swift's "Red" and Carrie Underwood's "Blown Away." Furthermore, both "Dandelion" and "Cloud 9" are the first No. 1 albums for Langley and Moroney, respectively. The chart has not seen a pair of first No. 1 country albums by solo women in the same year for nearly two decades, a feat last observed in 2007 with Reba McEntire's "Reba Duets" and Carrie Underwood's "Carnival Ride."

Breaking down the 169,000 equivalent album units for "Dandelion," Streaming Equivalent Album (SEA) units constituted the largest portion at 128,000, correlating to 130.46 million on-demand official streams of the album's tracks, which is Langley's best streaming week to date. This also led to its debut at No. 1 on the Top Streaming Albums chart. Album sales contributed 39,000 units, marking her best sales week and earning it a No. 1 debut on the Top Album Sales chart. The remaining units were accounted for by Track Equivalent Albums (TEA). "Dandelion" not only holds the largest week for a country album by a woman in two years but also secures the largest streaming week for an album by a woman in 2026, and the biggest streaming week for a country album by a woman in two years. In comparison, Beyoncé's "Cowboy Carter" recorded larger weeks in units (407,000) and streams (136.08 million) in 2024. "Dandelion" is Langley's first top 10 entry on the Billboard 200 and her second overall chart entry, with her debut set "Hungover" peaking at No. 20 after 80 weeks on the chart.

The album was made available across various formats, including streaming services, digital downloads, CDs, and two vinyl variants, one of which was signed. The Billboard 200 chart comprehensively ranks the week's most popular albums in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption, compiled by Luminate. Equivalent album units encapsulate album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA), and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). Each unit is equivalent to one album sale, or 10 individual tracks sold from an album, or 2,500 ad-supported or 1,000 paid/subscription on-demand official audio and video streams generated by an album's songs. The complete April 25, 2026-dated chart is published on Billboard's website on April 21.

Beyond Langley's success, the latest Billboard 200 chart saw other notable movements. Morgan Wallen's former No. 1 album, "I'm the Problem," held steady at No. 2 with 83,000 equivalent album units, an increase of 4%. This marks the second time in 2026 that country albums have occupied the top two spots, previously seen on the January 24-dated list. BTS' "ARIRANG" slipped from No. 1 to No. 3 in its fourth week, earning 78,000 units (down 37%) after three weeks atop the chart. Don Toliver's "OCTANE" remained at No. 4 with 48,000 units, and Olivia Dean's "The Art of Loving" stayed at No. 5 with nearly 48,000 units. Bad Bunny's "DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS" climbed from No. 7 to No. 6 with 44,000 units.

Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival performances significantly impacted several artists' chart positions. Justin Bieber's "SWAG" dramatically jumped from No. 55 to No. 7, earning 43,000 equivalent album units, a surge of 160% from the previous week. This increase was primarily driven by a 158% rise in streaming activity, with 42,000 SEA units translating to 41.48 million on-demand official streams across its standard and deluxe reissues. Similarly, Sabrina Carpenter's former No. 1 album, "Man's Best Friend," re-entered the top 10, climbing from No. 18 to No. 10, following her own headlining turn at Coachella. It gained 44% in units, reaching 40,000, with a 60% boost in streaming (34,000 SEA units equating to 34.39 million streams). Both Bieber's and Carpenter's Coachella performances were livestreamed, contributing to their chart gains. Other artists like Luke Combs and Morgan Wallen also saw movements, with Combs' "The Way I Am" falling to No. 8 and Wallen's "One Thing at a Time" rising to No. 8.
