Pop Icon Robbie Williams Delays New LP Fearing Threat to Historic Record Bid

The music world is buzzing with several notable developments, from album postponements to new releases and tour kick-offs, featuring prominent artists like Robbie Williams, Demi Lovato, Cardi B, Mariah Carey, and the bands Busted and McFly.
Robbie Williams has made headlines by postponing the release of his new album, “Britpop,” from October 10 to February 6, 2026. This strategic delay aims to avoid a direct clash with Taylor Swift’s album, “The Life Of A Showgirl,” which was also due around the same time. Williams is reportedly on the brink of setting a chart record for the most UK No.1 albums by any artist, a feat that would see him surpass The Beatles, with whom he is currently tied. His team decided against taking risks, acknowledging Swift's massive first-week sales potential. Despite the album delay, an intimate gig for pre-order customers is still scheduled for October 9 at Dingwalls in Camden.
Demi Lovato celebrated the upcoming release of her album, “It’s Not That Deep,” due on October 24. At a party in New York, Lovato, sporting shades and a leotard, expressed a shift in her music’s tone. Having married musician Jordan “Jutes” Lutes in May, she noted that her new record is “bursting with fun,” moving away from the cathartic, heavy topics that characterized her past eras, as she is now in a happier, more in-love phase of her life.
Cardi B has announced she is expecting her fourth child, her first with new boyfriend, American football player Stefon Diggs. This news comes just ahead of the release of her album, “Am I The Drama?”, which is set to drop tomorrow. The album features collaborations with major artists including Janet Jackson, Tyla, and Megan Thee Stallion.
Mariah Carey is also preparing for a significant release, with her 16th album, “Here For It All,” slated to launch next week, on September 26. Alongside the album, a big-budget video for her next single, “Play This Song,” is also set to debut. Insiders reveal that Carey collaborated with producer Anderson Paak for the track, which is described as having a “funky R&B vibe.” Despite her iconic status, Carey candidly shared that her teenage twins, Monroe and Moroccan, prefer the music of Sabrina Carpenter and Olivia Rodrigo over her own.
Meanwhile, the bands Busted and McFly embarked on their huge joint tour, kicking off in Birmingham. Notably, Busted’s James Bourne was absent due to illness, with his younger brother Chris stepping in to replace him. Bandmates Matt Willis and Charlie Simpson addressed Bourne’s absence on stage, expressing their love and well-wishes, stating, “James is really f***ing sick and we love him and miss him.” Despite this unexpected change, Chris helped Busted deliver a ten-song set, following McFly’s opening performance of twelve hits.
