The DC Universe is expanding its animated offerings with a highly anticipated spin-off from the beloved series, "My Adventures With Superman." Fans of the original show, which has captivated audiences for three seasons, will now get to meet Jessica Cruz, voiced by Auliʻi Cravalho, in the new series titled "My Adventures With Green Lantern." The narrative will follow Jessica as a student at Hal Jordan Memorial High School, where she is chosen to join the esteemed Lantern Corps, promising a fresh take on a familiar universe.
Peter Safran, co-Chairman and co-CEO of DC Studios, provided an exclusive update on "My Adventures With Green Lantern." He confirmed that the series will feature "10 half-hour episodes," aligning with the successful format established by "My Adventures With Superman." Furthermore, Safran emphasized that the spin-off will maintain a similar "tonal" approach to its predecessor. "My Adventures With Superman" is celebrated for its grounded yet incredibly sweet portrayal of Clark Kent (Jack Quaid), Lois Lane (Alice Lee), and Jimmy Olsen (Ishmel Sahid) as they navigate life at the Daily Planet and Clark's burgeoning superhero career, focusing on his relationship with Lois Lane. This unique blend of character-driven storytelling and superhero action will be carried forward.
While the tonal similarities are a key element, Safran clarified that "My Adventures With Green Lantern" will be "thematically very different" due to its focus on distinct characters and lore. However, the beloved qualities that define "My Adventures with Superman" are firmly integrated into the new Green Lantern series, which is currently in the stages of reviewing animatics and animation. The expansion of the 'My Adventures with...' series aims to offer a new side of favorite heroes, allowing fans to delve deeper into their lives outside of their superhero duties, a concept unique to these animated shows. Following the success of the "Lanterns" series, this is an opportune moment to explore the Green Lanterns of Earth and the iconic Jessica Cruz. While awaiting more details on "My Adventures With Green Lantern," fans can catch up on "My Adventures With Superman" on HBO Max.
