Ghana and South Korea Strengthen Ties with Landmark Vessel Commissioning

President John Dramani Mahama has initiated a major collaboration with South Korea, aiming to leverage Ghana’s resources and South Korea’s advanced technology.

During bilateral talks, Mahama emphasized a “win-win partnership,” highlighting Ghana’s natural and human resources alongside South Korea’s innovation capacity.

Officials from both nations expressed optimism that the partnership would drive tangible projects, enhancing Ghana’s industrial landscape and positioning it as a hub for innovation in West Africa.

A key highlight of Mahama’s five-day working visit was the commissioning of the Sahara LPG vessel, officially named MT Asharami Ghana, marking a milestone in Ghana’s energy infrastructure.

The vessel, designed for efficient transport of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) across West Africa, was officially launched on March 12.

President Mahama underlined the environmental benefits of LPG, noting its role in reducing reliance on charcoal, firewood, and kerosene, thereby improving public health and sustainability.

He described the commissioning as a symbol of forward-looking strategic planning, regional development, and strengthened international cooperation.

The MT Asharami Ghana exemplifies Ghana’s commitment to energy security, supporting cleaner energy initiatives across West Africa and the wider African continent.

Mahama concluded that such initiatives highlight the importance of shared prosperity and collaboration in achieving sustainable development goals.

This partnership reflects a broader vision where resource-rich African nations align with technologically advanced countries to foster industrial growth and environmental progress.
