Billion-Naira Showdown: Gbajabiamila Drags 'Fake DG' To Court Over Bribery Scandal!

Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff to the President, has initiated a substantial N15 billion defamation lawsuit against Adeyemi Adeniyi, the embattled Director-General of the controversial Presidential Economic Advisory Council/Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC). The legal action was prompted by Adeniyi's grave allegations that Gbajabiamila demanded a significant 48 percent kickback from a N27.3 billion take-off grant allocated to the purportedly fake federal agency. This suit underscores a serious dispute involving high-profile public figures and claims of financial impropriety.

Filed before the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, Gbajabiamila's suit seeks N10 billion in general damages, an additional N5 billion in aggravated damages, and N200 million to cover the cost of the legal proceedings. Beyond monetary compensation, the Chief of Staff is also demanding that Adeniyi publish a full retraction and an unconditional apology across five national newspapers, as well as on all social media platforms and online channels where the alleged defamatory statements appeared, for a continuous period of 30 days. Gbajabiamila, represented by a formidable legal team including Kemi Pinheiro (SAN) and others, has unequivocally branded Adeniyi's allegations as false, malicious, and damaging.

In his statement of claim and witness statement on oath, Gbajabiamila vehemently denied any form of personal, official, or professional dealings with Adeniyi, stating he had never met or communicated with him. He further denied authorizing any intermediary, representative, agent, or proxy to demand or receive any money on his behalf. The court processes highlight Adeniyi's specific claims from a press conference, where he alleged a dispute arose from Gbajabiamila's purported demand for a 48 percent kickback from the N27.3 billion grant, and that N400 million had already been paid through a proxy, with a further N200 million allegedly required for presidential approvals. Gbajabiamila, however, dismissed these as completely false, insisting he neither demanded any percentage nor received any financial benefit, directly or indirectly, from Matthew (Adeniyi) or anyone associated with him, including the alleged N400 million or N200 million.

The lawsuit also addresses Adeniyi's alarming claims concerning the death of an intermediary, Babatunde Tanimola, who allegedly linked Adeniyi to the Chief of Staff. Adeniyi claimed Tanimola died under suspicious circumstances in a hotel fire in Utako, Abuja, on October 22, 2025, supposedly a day after Gbajabiamila petitioned the police. Furthermore, Adeniyi alleged he narrowly escaped an assassination attempt in September 2025 and that a
