Wilson Bethel Unlocks Bullseye's Most Unhinged 'Daredevil' Episode

In Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, Episode 4, titled “Gloves Off,” Wilson Bethel delivers a chilling performance as Bullseye, also known as Dex, portraying a character who sees himself not as a villain but as a hero on a “righteous mission” to redeem himself.

Speaking in an interview with Collider, Bethel explained that this version of Bullseye carries an unsettling “lightness” and even “joy,” driven by his belief that he is restoring balance after the attempted murder of the Fisks.

This mindset is most evident in the episode’s intense diner massacre, where Dex methodically sets a trap for the Anti-Vigilante Task Force while impersonating The Punisher, eliminates perceived threats, and calmly reassures civilians that he is “one of the good guys.”

The elaborate sequence, comprising roughly 80 shots, was filmed in a single day, a production achievement Bethel described as one of the most impressive of his career.

The tension throughout the episode is further fueled by Bullseye’s complicated history with Wilson Fisk and Vanessa Fisk, with Bethel noting that Dex has multiple reasons to resent them both individually and collectively.

This season intentionally presents Bullseye as more calculated and controlled, transforming him into a colder, more precise weapon guided by his warped sense of justice.

A particularly emotional moment occurs when Bullseye tells Matt Murdock he wants to do “one good thing,” a line Bethel says is completely sincere and rooted in the character’s wounded, childlike desire for redemption.

Bethel also praised working alongside Charlie Cox, highlighting their strong on-screen chemistry and the deeper moral conversations explored in upcoming episodes, while describing Bullseye’s physical presence this season as that of an “apex predator,” marked by confidence, calculated movement, and a menacing swagger that defines his evolving character.
