Vinted's Forced Listing Changes Ignite User Fury

Vinted, Europe's leading second-hand fashion marketplace, has recently implemented a significant overhaul to its sizing categories, leaving millions of users "livid" and sparking widespread frustration across the platform. The alteration, first spotted by app users on Monday, November 10, specifically impacts women's and kid's clothing, bundling sizes together rather than offering individual options. For instance, an XS now encompasses sizes 4-6, S covers 8-10, and M spans 12-14.
This major modification has not only changed how new garments are listed and browsed but has also retroactively applied to clothing already posted on the platform. This retrospective application is a primary source of user discontent, as many sellers now face the daunting task of re-evaluating and potentially updating their existing listings to match the new system.
A Vinted spokesperson addressed the changes, stating, "We've updated our size guidelines for women's and kid's clothing to make sizing more accurate across international brands." They also noted that UK members would have received an inbox message with more details, with full information available in their Help Centre. Despite this explanation, the user community's reaction has been largely negative.
One prominent voice of protest came from TikTok user @jess.vintage.revivals, who shared a video expressing her fury. She highlighted the practical difficulties this change creates, particularly for sellers with numerous listings. "Does that mean I'm going to have to go through 800 odd listings and change the size on them because they're not going to match up with the listing description?" she questioned. Her concern extended to the potential impact on searchability, fearing that items would not appear correctly in dropdown menus, leading to confusion among buyers who previously understood a medium to be a size 10, not 12-14.
Viewers of Jess's video echoed similar frustrations. Many described the changes as a "nightmare" and "absurd." Users reported that Vinted's AI had misread measurements like "pit to pit," leading to incorrect size assignments—for example, a size 10 cardigan being listed as a size 22. This issue forces users into a "frantic" scramble to correct listings before accidental purchases occur. Some disgruntled individuals have even resorted to putting their accounts on "holiday mode" to avoid the chaos, while others expressed hope that Vinted would revert the changes due to the widespread unhappiness.
