Unlikely Reunion: Katy Perry & Chief Keef End 13-Year Feud with Fiery Remix!

Thirteen years after their viral online feud captivated the internet, pop superstar Katy Perry and Chicago drill pioneer Chief Keef have finally collaborated on a new song. The unexpected musical alliance sees Chief Keef lending his distinctive style to a remix of Perry's track, “Legendary Lovers (Save Me),” which was officially released on streaming services on Friday, May 29.
The journey to this collaboration began with a series of public interactions. Earlier in the week of its release, Katy Perry playfully attempted to “summon” Chief Keef’s presence through a post on her TikTok account. This social media buzz was soon followed by footage emerging on Wednesday, May 27, showing the two artists linking up in a recording studio. Perry then posted another clip, essentially confirming that Chief Keef would be featured on the highly anticipated remix.
The fusion of Chief Keef’s signature rap style over a Max Martin-produced pop beat was an unforeseen pairing for many listeners. Keef's verse on the track features lyrics such as, “You got a job interview, hope it goes smooth/ Come back home and tell me how you do/ Here’s some money, baby, I’m so proud of you/ She gon’ go and get it, that’s my type of b—h/ She make me turn up for her like Yabba Dabba Doo,” while Katy Perry contributes ad-libs, creating a truly unique sound.
“Legendary Lovers” originally appeared on Katy Perry’s critically acclaimed album *Prism*, released in 2013. More recently, the song was repackaged and included as part of her compilation album, *The Ones That Got the Plays*, which arrived earlier in May and debuted at No. 117 on the Billboard 200 chart.
The history between Katy Perry and Chief Keef dates back to their public spat in 2013. The feud ignited when Perry tweeted her strong disapproval of hearing Keef’s song “Hate Bein’ Sober,” featuring Wiz Khalifa and 50 Cent, on the radio. Her tweet read, “Just heard a new song on the radio called ‘I Hate Being Sober’ and I have serious doubt for the world.”
Chief Keef swiftly responded with an aggressive and NSFW message on Twitter, threatening the pop star and even announcing plans for a diss track, which ultimately never materialized. However, Perry later offered an apology, clarifying her initial comment: “Mr. Keef! I’m sorry if I offended you. I heard a lot of people guesting on the song & didn’t even know it was you in particular,” she wrote on Twitter, adding, “I’m a fan of your ‘Don’t Like’ video tbh. I was really just having a general opinion on our generations desire to be constantly intoxicated.” Sosa also expressed regret for his earlier outburst, replying, “Oh I’m Sorry Too Then.” This long-awaited collaboration marks a full circle moment, transforming a viral feud into a unique musical partnership over a decade in the making.
