Oyo Principal's Dramatic Aftermath: From Rescue to Generous Car Gift!

Mrs. Rachael Alamu, the principal of Ahoro Esinle School in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, along with several teachers and pupils, was abducted on May 15, 2026, when gunmen attacked schools in the area. The victims endured a harrowing 56-day ordeal in captivity before security agencies successfully secured their release.

During their time in captivity, the abductors subjected the children to beatings to maintain silence and kept the male teachers chained and blindfolded. To evade security operatives, the captives were frequently forced to embark on dangerous night journeys through the dense forest. This traumatic experience left a profound mark on all those involved.

Upon regaining her freedom on a Friday, an emotional Mrs. Alamu's immediate concern was for her family and her vehicle, asking security operatives about her husband and the car she was driving when abducted. Officers quickly assured her of her family's safety and provided comfort following the distressing experience. The Federal Government later announced their rescue, and the victims were taken to the Military Hospital in Ibadan for medical treatment and psychosocial support before being formally handed over to Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde.

Mrs. Alamu later clarified her initial inquiry about her car, explaining that she had believed the police would have recovered and towed it to their office. However, she was shown the vehicle, burnt at a location that was not part of their abduction route, leading her to conclude that the abductors had driven it there before setting it ablaze.

In a gesture of support, Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Oyo State, donated a brand-new Toyota Camry to Mrs. Alamu following her release. The presentation, captured in photos shared by Yes FM, was made alongside Akeem Adeyemi, the member representing Afijio/Oyo East/Oyo West/Atiba Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.

Reflecting on her future, Mrs. Alamu expressed hope that she would recover from the traumatic experience with time, noting her 28 years of service with four remaining. However, she admitted uncertainty about returning to Ahoro Esinle School due to the significant distance and the profound emotional impact of her ordeal, highlighting the sacrifices she had made regarding transportation even before the abduction.
