Salah Meltdown Rocks Liverpool as Carragher Slams ‘Disgrace’; Slot Rejects Claims His Authority Is Undermined

Liverpool has been thrown into turmoil after Mohamed Salah accused Liverpool of “throwing him under the bus,” claiming his relationship with manager Arne Slot had collapsed. The fallout was immediate, with the forward excluded from the Champions League squad to face Inter Milan in what has become a dramatic turning point at Anfield.
Speaking from Italy ahead of the clash, Slot firmly denied his authority had been undermined and said he was surprised by Salah’s remarks. He revealed he had only a brief exchange with the Egyptian before informing him that he would not travel for the UEFA Champions League fixture. Slot declined to confirm whether Salah had played his final game for the club, saying only that there is “always a possibility to return,” while emphasizing the decision was not meant to be punitive.
Goalkeeper Alisson Becker added another layer to the story, insisting the squad still fully backs Slot despite the public fallout. He praised Salah as a “great guy” and a “legend,” but made clear that the winger’s absence was a natural consequence of his actions. Alisson stressed the importance of shifting focus back to Liverpool’s form, especially with the squad preparing for a critical stretch of games in domestic and European competition.
Pundit reaction across England has been explosive. Jamie Carragher blasted Salah’s comments as “disgraceful,” accusing him of intentionally causing “maximum damage” and challenging his commitment to both club and country. Chris Sutton echoed the criticism, calling Liverpool “a mess because of Mo Salah” and describing the forward’s behavior as self-centered. Salah had singled out Carragher directly in the interview, predicting the former defender would criticize him the next day. The dispute has also drawn renewed attention to Salah’s standing with Egypt, especially with the Africa Cup of Nations around the corner.
With only four Premier League goals this season and his international departure looming, uncertainty now hangs heavily over Salah’s future at Anfield. Though he trained with the first team, Liverpool ultimately chose not to take him to San Siro, underscoring the severity of the situation and the urgent need for the club to restore stability before the crisis deepens further.
