Rock Band Lambrini Girls Suffer Major Setback: Coachella Drop and Tour Reschedule Following Singer's Severe Injury

The English punk group Lambrini Girls have announced their last-minute withdrawal from this weekend's Coachella Festival in Indio, California. This unfortunate news comes after singer/guitarist Phoebe Lunny revealed she has suffered a neck fracture and is currently receiving treatment for what she described as an “acute brain injury.” The band shared this update via an Instagram post on Wednesday, April 9th, explaining the sudden change to their schedule.
Due to Lunny's severe injuries, all previously scheduled North American headlining dates have also been postponed, now slated for later this summer and fall. Lunny elaborated that the injury occurred during a recent Australian tour and was initially “misdiagnosed,” leading to a delay in proper treatment. Medical professionals have advised her against flying or performing for six weeks, making their participation in Coachella and the immediate North American tour impossible. However, the band confirmed that their scheduled U.K. and European shows, set for late May, will proceed as planned, as they do not involve the same travel restrictions.
Phoebe Lunny conveyed her deep regret about missing Coachella, stating the band is “so gutted” and wanted to be there “so badly.” She humorously referenced Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl, who famously played with a broken leg, to emphasize the seriousness of her own condition: “If it was a broken leg, I would do a Dave Grohl and play it.” Lunny expressed that this decision was not taken lightly and conveyed hope for a potential performance at Coachella next year, acknowledging that with her neck and brain affected, their hands are tied for now. Despite the setback, she is optimistic about a speedy recovery.
In her Instagram message to American ticket holders, Lunny shared a more profound sentiment, acknowledging the “dark times, especially in the states,” and highlighting the importance of community and resistance. She emphasized that “making space for subversion and resistance is at the core of what this band is about,” and expressed her greatest joy in seeing diverse audiences come together at their shows to mosh, support each other, and express emotions ranging from joy to anger.
The rescheduled North American dates for Lambrini Girls are as follows:
