Meghan Markle Sparks Buzz: Set to Join Guy Ritchie's 'The Gentlemen' Season 3

The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, is reportedly in early discussions to join the cast of the third season of Netflix’s “The Gentlemen.” This potential move signifies a notable return to acting for Markle, following her recent relocation back to the U.K. with Prince Harry and their two children for an “extended period” after six years of living in California. News of her consideration for an acting role in an upcoming U.K.-based project was first reported by Australian outlet News.com.au, with sources close to the Sussexes not denying the report.

“The Gentlemen” is a Guy Ritchie-created series, spun off from his successful 2019 film. The show features Theo James as an aristocratic soldier who inherits his late father’s vast estate, only to uncover that it harbors an expansive, clandestine cannabis empire. The first season was a significant hit for the streamer, and its second season is scheduled to premiere on September 3. While Season 3 has not yet been officially greenlit, Markle’s talks are described as being in very early stages, with no contract in place and her specific role yet to be identified. Deadline Hollywood was the first to report on her potential involvement with “The Gentlemen.”

A return to acting within a Netflix series aligns strategically for Markle, as she and Prince Harry’s Archewell Productions banner already holds an exclusive deal with the streaming giant. Through this partnership, they have previously produced several projects, including Markle’s lifestyle show “With Love, Meghan,” which launched her brand As Ever, as well as the docuseries “Heart of Invictus” and “Harry & Meghan.”

Markle is best known for her prominent role as Rachel Zane in the legal drama “Suits,” where she starred for seven seasons from 2011 to 2018. After her marriage to Prince Harry in 2018, she largely stepped back from her acting career. Her recent move back to the U.K. sets the stage for what appears to be a gradual re-engagement with the entertainment industry.

In addition to these talks, Markle is also slated to make a cameo appearance as herself in the upcoming Amazon MGM comedy “Close Personal Friends,” featuring Brie Larson and Lily Collins, further indicating her renewed interest in acting projects.

The show’s creator, Guy Ritchie, maintains a busy schedule with several other projects. He released the action film “In the Grey” earlier this year, starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Henry Cavill. Looking ahead, Ritchie is directing “Wife & Dog,” a thriller set for release next year with Benedict Cumberbatch, Rosamund Pike, and Anthony Hopkins, and “Viva La Madness” in 2028, which will reunite him with frequent collaborator Jason Statham. On the small screen, he also has a third season of “MobLand” and a second season of “Young Sherlock” in development.
