Maisie Peters' 'Florescence' Dominates ARIA Charts!

The latest ARIA Albums Chart announces a significant achievement for British artist Maisie Peters, whose new album, "Florescence" (via Atlantic/Warner), debuts at the coveted No. 1 position. This marks Peters' inaugural chart-topping album, surpassing the No. 4 peak previously achieved by her 2023 collection, "The Good Witch." Peters' chart success follows a dedicated theater tour across Australia, a highlight of which was a "magical" duet at Forum Melbourne with global superstar Ed Sheeran, where they performed "Castle On The Hill." This collaboration echoed their previous shared stage experience in 2023 when Peters opened for Sheeran during the Australian leg of his record-breaking – = ÷ x Tour, pronounced "The Mathematics Tour."
The ARIA Albums Chart, published on Friday, May 25, also features several other notable entries. Canberra-based rockers Hands Like Houses secure a strong debut with their sixth studio album, "Lotus" (Orchard), which enters the chart at No. 5. This adds to their consistent chart presence, with previous albums including "Unimagine" (No. 51 in 2023), "Dissonants" (No. 7 in 2016), "Anon" (No. 4 in 2018), and "Atmospherics" (No. 36 last year). Close behind, Adelaide's Aleksiah makes her first appearance on the official chart with "Good Paper" (Chugg/MGM), debuting at No. 7. Melbourne rock act Kingswood continues their streak of chart success with "Midnight Mavericks" (ABC/Orchard), which debuts at No. 23, marking their fifth top 50 album. Their previous albums have all impacted the national chart, including "Microscopic Wars" (No. 6 in 2014), "After Hours, Close To Dawn" (No. 10 in 2017), "Juveniles" (No. 14 in 2020), and "Home" (No. 15 in 2023).
Over on the ARIA Singles Chart, American pop phenomenon Olivia Rodrigo achieves her fifth national leader as "The Cure" (Interscope/Universal) opens at No. 1. This marks two consecutive chart-toppers for Rodrigo, following her success in late April with "Drop Dead," which improves significantly from No. 23 to No. 9 on the latest frame. Both hit singles are housed on Rodrigo's upcoming third studio album, "You Seem Pretty Sad For A Girl So In Love," which is slated for release on June 12.
Other movements on the ARIA Singles Chart include The Chemical Brothers' 2015 track "Go" (Virgin/EMI), which sees a notable jump from No. 14 to No. 11. This resurgence is attributed to its sync in the Netflix thriller "Apex," starring Charlize Theron and filmed in Australia, marking a new chart high for the track, which originally peaked at No. 56 upon its release. Finally, G Flip makes a significant debut at No. 48 with "Bed On Fire" (AWAL), securing their first entry on the main Top 50 singles tally. "Bed On Fire" is featured on G Flip's third studio album, "Dream Ride," which itself peaked at No. 4 on the ARIA Chart last year.
