Fire Damages Warehouse at Kruger National Park, SANParks Says Tourism Unaffected
A fire has damaged a maintenance warehouse at South Africa's Kruger National Park, but SANParks says visitor facilities remain fully operational and tourism has not been affected.
South African National Parks (SANParks) has assured visitors that a fire which damaged a maintenance warehouse at Skukuza Rest Camp in Kruger National Park has not disrupted tourism operations, with all visitor facilities continuing to operate as normal.
The fire broke out on the evening of 18 July, affecting a warehouse used to store maintenance equipment and infrastructure supplies. According to SANParks, no injuries were reported and the affected building is located away from guest accommodation, restaurants and administrative facilities.
Visitor Activities Continue as Scheduled
SANParks said all rest camps remain open, roads are accessible, and guided game drives, bush walks and self-drive experiences are continuing without interruption.
Park officials stressed that visitors with existing bookings should proceed with their travel plans, as the incident has had no impact on the guest experience.
Investigation Underway
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Emergency response teams secured the site shortly after the blaze, while technical teams are assessing the extent of the damage and determining the loss of maintenance equipment, including electrical supplies, generators and other operational materials.
SANParks said it will provide further updates as investigations continue.
Recovery Efforts Continue
The latest incident comes just months after Kruger National Park recovered from flood damage and a separate fire that affected retail facilities earlier this year.
Despite those challenges, the park has restored key services and continues to welcome visitors from across Africa and around the world.
