Jordan Ayew Backs Black Stars Squad Ahead of 2026 FIFA World Cup

Jordan Ayew has called for confidence in Ghana’s current Black Stars squad as preparations intensify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The tournament will be hosted across the United States, Mexico, and Canada, with Ghana set to compete in Group L alongside England, Panama, and Croatia.

Ayew believes the core group that secured qualification has already proven its ability on the international stage.

The Black Stars recorded five wins and one draw in their final six qualifying matches, a run that strengthened belief within the squad.

Speaking about the team’s progress, Ayew said the players who guided Ghana through the qualifiers have shown strong commitment and performance.

The captain suggested that major squad changes may not be necessary, emphasizing the growing chemistry within the team.

However, he acknowledged that final selection decisions remain with the technical staff, led by head coach Otto Addo.

Ayew added that any player brought into the team must be prepared to contribute fully and compete at the highest level.

The Ghana captain stressed that the Black Stars are heading into the tournament with serious ambitions, not simply to participate.

According to Ayew, the team aims to deliver strong performances and make the nation proud on football’s biggest stage.

Ghana will open their World Cup campaign against Panama in Toronto, before facing England and Croatia in the remaining group fixtures.

As part of preparations, Otto Addo’s side is scheduled to play international friendlies against Germany, Austria, and Wales in the months leading up to the tournament.

The Black Stars are also hoping to improve on their performance at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, where they exited during the group stage.

With preparations underway, the Ghanaian squad is aiming to arrive at the 2026 tournament better organized, more unified, and ready to compete with the world’s top teams.
