Kidjo was bestowed with the 2854th star on the Boulevard in the Recording category, marking a groundbreaking achievement. She is officially recognized as the first Black African artist and the first African musician ever to receive a star on the prestigious Hollywood Walk of Fame. This makes her only the second African-born entertainer to be honored on the landmark, following South African actress Charlize Theron, who received her star in 2005.
The celebratory event saw a host of industry luminaries and esteemed associates gather to honor "Africa's Premier Diva." Among those present were acclaimed actor Willem Dafoe, Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr., Nigerian star Adekunle Gold, and Variety correspondent Angelique Jackson.
