Dr. Naa Momo Lartey Leads Ghana Delegation at UN Women's Summit

Ghana is advancing its commitment to gender equality and women’s empowerment on the global stage as Dr Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, leads the country’s delegation to the 70th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW70).
The session is taking place at the United Nations Headquarters in New York from March 9 to March 19, 2026.
The Commission on the Status of Women remains the United Nations’ primary intergovernmental body dedicated to promoting gender equality and empowering women worldwide.
The priority theme for CSW70 focuses on “ensuring and strengthening access to justice for all women and girls,” including promoting inclusive and equitable legal systems, eliminating discriminatory laws, and addressing structural barriers that hinder equality.
The session brings together Member States, UN agencies, and civil society organisations to review progress, discuss persistent challenges, and reinforce global commitments aimed at achieving meaningful gender equity.
Ghana Strengthens Advocacy at Global Gender Forum
Ghana’s delegation includes technical officials from key ministries, Members of Parliament, representatives from the Office of the President, and members of academia, alongside stakeholders from non-governmental organisations and civil society groups working in gender equality, social protection, and child welfare.
During the session, Dr Agnes Naa Momo Lartey is expected to deliver three official statements on behalf of Ghana at the Opening Dialogue Segment, a Ministerial Roundtable, and a High-Level Meeting.
She will also participate in several side events and bilateral engagements with international partners to highlight Ghana’s progress and share policy experiences.
Ahead of the gathering, the Minister convened a strategic briefing with members of the delegation to coordinate Ghana’s participation.
The meeting focused on aligning the country’s national priorities with the global agenda, clarifying roles within the delegation, and identifying key advocacy issues.
This preparation is aimed at ensuring Ghana effectively contributes to policy discussions while reinforcing its commitment to protecting the rights of women and girls and strengthening inclusive justice systems.
