Florence + the Machine Takes Bold Stance, Partners With Planned Parenthood on Tour!

Florence Welch, the acclaimed frontwoman of Florence + The Machine, has initiated a significant partnership with Planned Parenthood, aiming to provide vital reproductive healthcare resources to her fanbase. This collaboration will see Planned Parenthood affiliates present at various stops on the band's ongoing "Everybody Scream" tour, engaging with concertgoers and offering information on life-saving reproductive care.
The timing of this initiative is particularly crucial, as highlighted by a release that stresses the urgency amid President Donald Trump’s second term and his administration’s anti-choice policies. Welch emphasized the critical nature of this support in a statement, noting, "Planned Parenthood health centers are a lifeline for millions of people, and they are relentlessly attacked. Having access to a trusted provider is essential and also the difference between life and death. In this moment of uncertainty for our rights, I’m proud to support Planned Parenthood and create space on my tour for them to connect people with the care and information they need."
Caren Spruch, national director of arts and entertainment for Planned Parenthood, lauded Welch’s dedication, stating, "Florence Welch has long used her platform to speak out for reproductive freedom and care, including bravely sharing her personal experience with pregnancy loss." Spruch also pointed to Welch's latest album, "Everybody Scream," as a powerful affirmation of the importance of individual bodily autonomy.
The partnership officially commenced on Wednesday, April 8, coinciding with the launch of the North American leg of the tour at the Target Center in Minneapolis, following a month-long hiatus. The "Everybody Scream" tour originally began in February to support the album of the same name, which was released last October. The album achieved commercial success, peaking at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 and marking Welch’s eighth entry on the chart.
A deeply personal connection drives Welch's advocacy; shortly before the album's release, she publicly shared her own experience with life-saving reproductive healthcare. In 2023, she underwent emergency surgery for an ectopic pregnancy, which resulted in a miscarriage and the loss of a fallopian tube. Reflecting on this profound experience, she told The Guardian in September, "The closest I came to making life was the closest I came to death. And I felt like I had stepped through this door, and it was just full of women, screaming."
Florence Welch is not alone in her support for Planned Parenthood. The organization has cultivated partnerships with numerous other artists. In the previous year, Olivia Rodrigo was honored with the Catalyst of Change award for her efforts in raising money for abortion funds through her Fund 4 Good initiative on the "Guts World Tour." Additionally, in 2025, a collective of prominent artists, including Harry Styles, Megan Thee Stallion, Gracie Abrams, Stevie Nicks, and Cyndi Lauper, signed a letter in solidarity with Planned Parenthood. This collective action was a direct response to Trump's implementation of policies that restricted access to reproductive healthcare, reduced public health funding, and eliminated legal protections for reproductive healthcare clinics.
