Exclusive: Yash's 'Toxic' Reveals First Look of Tara Sutaria as Rebecca!

Anticipation is steadily building for Yash’s upcoming film, “Toxic – A Fairytale for Grown-Ups,” scheduled for a theatrical release on March 19, 2026. The production team has been strategically revealing character first looks, generating significant buzz. The latest reveal introduces Tara Sutaria as Rebecca, a character depicted as a blend of fragility and innate strength, navigating vulnerability while maintaining an instinct for survival and authority. This follows earlier unveilings of Kiara Advani as Nadia, Huma Qureshi as Elizabeth, and Nayanthara as Ganga, collectively amplifying excitement for the project.
Tara Sutaria, who made her film debut in 2019 with “Student of the Year 2” and earned the Zee Cine Award for Best Female Debut, has diversified her portfolio with action films like “Marjaavaan,” “Heropanti 2,” and “Ek Villain Returns.” Her role in the 2023 survival thriller “Apurva” garnered critical acclaim for showcasing her expanded dramatic range. “Toxic” marks a significant milestone in her career as her first pan-India production, indicating a broader reach and a pivotal role.
Yash, the acclaimed Kannada-language film industry actor, achieved pan-Indian superstardom with the groundbreaking “K.G.F” franchise. His portrayal of Rocky Bhai in “K.G.F: Chapter 1” (2018) and “K.G.F: Chapter 2” (2022) propelled the films to unprecedented box-office success, breaking language barriers and making the second installment the fifth highest-grossing Indian film of all time. Before his pan-Indian fame, Yash demonstrated his versatility in Kannada cinema with notable performances in films such as “Googly” (2013) and “Mr. and Mrs. Ramachari” (2014).
“Toxic” is helmed by festival circuit darling Geetu Mohandas, known for her critically acclaimed work on “Moothon.” This ambitious project represents a watershed moment for Kannada cinema, which has been steadily gaining international traction following the global phenomenon of the “K.G.F” series. The screenplay for “Toxic” was collaboratively written by Yash and Mohandas.
Director Geetu Mohandas shared her unique experience working with Tara Sutaria, stating, “I’ve always felt an instinctive love to protect Tara. Perhaps because she is a guarded soul or perhaps it’s the armor she’s comfortable with. And perhaps it doesn’t need to be defined.” Mohandas realized that fostering an environment of space and allowing Sutaria to simply be was the most effective approach, leading to a calm, deeply professional, and perfectly aligned working relationship. She observed Sutaria’s quiet intensity: “She observed more than she spoke. She listened more than she revealed. And I often wondered if I should guide her more closely. But in her silence, something powerful was brewing.” Mohandas expressed immense surprise and admiration for the breathtaking performance Sutaria delivered, born from an inner understanding she carried all along, anticipating that she will surprise everyone else too.
A pioneering aspect of “Toxic” is its production strategy: it is the first major Indian film to be conceptualized, written, and simultaneously shot in both Kannada and English languages. Following this innovative approach, dubbed versions are planned for Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and additional languages, aiming for a truly pan-Indian and potentially international audience.
The production has assembled an exceptional technical crew, including Indian National Film Award-winning cinematographer Rajeev Ravi, acclaimed composer Ravi Basrur, editor Ujwal Kulkarni, and production designer T.P. Abid. The action sequences are choreographed by an international and national team of experts, featuring Hollywood’s J.J. Perry, renowned for his work on the “John Wick” franchise, alongside the Indian National Film Award-winning duo Anbariv and Kecha Khamphakdee, promising high-octane visual spectacles.
Produced by Venkat K. Narayana and Yash under the banners of KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations, “Toxic – A Fairytale for Grown-Ups” is strategically set for release on March 19, 2026, aiming to capitalize on the extended holiday weekend encompassing Eid, Ugadi, and Gudi Padwa celebrations, ensuring a wide audience reach.
