European Leaders Descend on Kyiv for Independence Day and Crucial Security Talks

Lithuanian President, Gitanas Nausėda, has made his first confirmed visit to Kyiv in approximately 18 months, underscoring the enduring partnership between Lithuania and Ukraine. This significant trip follows his last visit on February 24, 2025, which marked the third anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion.

During that prior visit, Lithuania demonstrated its unwavering commitment by announcing the delivery of RBS-70 short-range air-defense systems, a crucial contribution to Ukraine's defense capabilities.

The current visit is packed with high-level engagements, signaling a concerted effort among Ukraine's international partners. President Nausėda is scheduled to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to discuss critical bilateral and international issues.

Beyond this key meeting, he will also participate in comprehensive discussions with Nordic and Baltic allies, reflecting a united regional front in supporting Ukraine. A central event of his agenda includes participation in a meeting of the Coalition of the Willing, a gathering focused on intensifying military and strategic aid.

Delegations from Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Latvia, and Norway have also arrived in the Ukrainian capital, transforming Nausėda's trip into a broader convergence of support.
