Electoral Shake-Up: INEC Announces September 19 for 5 By-Elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially scheduled September 19, 2026, as the date for conducting five crucial by-elections across four Nigerian states. This announcement was confirmed by Tunde Oketola, the Chief Press Secretary to the INEC Chairman, during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Tuesday.
The upcoming electoral exercise will encompass one federal constituency election and four state constituency elections. The federal constituency contest is slated to take place in the Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency, located in Gombe State.
Furthermore, the four state constituency elections are distributed across three other states. In Bauchi State, the elections will be held in the Disina and Sakwa constituencies. Delta State will see an election in the Udu Constituency, while Kano State will host a by-election in the Dawakin Kudu Constituency.
