John Creasy is back. Wonder Man's Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is stepping into the role of the mercenary turned bodyguard on Netflix's new adaptation of Man on Fire this spring, according to Collider.

We finally know when we can see him do it, thanks to an explosive new teaser for the series that moves the action to the streets of Rio de Janeiro.

In the new teaser, an unseen narrator lists Creasy's resume: he served in the US Army Special Forces, and did three tours in Iraq and Afghanistan.

However, the narrator suspects his best days are behind him...only for the rest of the teaser to seemingly prove otherwise.

In our first glimpse of Creasy, he assembles a weapon blindfolded as the action explodes literally.

He's come to Rio to work as a bodyguard, and bonds with his young charge; when she's subsequently abducted, he becomes the titular man on fire, using his fists, his weapons, and every skill at his disposal to get her back.

That means brutal street fights, explosive demolitions, and a harrowing Brazilian jailbreak.

Will he succeed? You'll have to tune into Netflix on April 30, when all seven episodes of Man on Firedebut.

The upcoming “Man on Fire” series brings together a powerful team both in front of and behind the camera.

Yahya Abdul-Mateen II takes the lead role as Creasy and also works as an executive producer, helping shape the direction of the show.

Joining him is a strong supporting cast that includes Billie Boullet, Bobby Cannavale, Alice Braga, Scoot McNairy, and Paul Ben-Victor, each bringing their own energy to the story.

The series is written and run by Kyle Killen, known for his work on Halo. He also serves as an executive producer.

Steven Caple Jr., the director of Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, is another key figure on the project, directing the first two episodes and working as an executive producer.

Other episodes will be directed by Vicente Amorim, Clare Kilner, and Michael Cuesta, adding their creative vision to the show.

The story “Man on Fire” first began as a gripping novel written by A.J. Quinnell in 1980. Since then, the powerful revenge story has made its way to the screen more than once.

The first film adaptation arrived in 1987, an Italian production starring Scott Glenn and Joe Pesci.

While it introduced the story to movie audiences, it was the 2004 version directed by Tony Scott that truly made the story famous.

That film starred Denzel Washington as the hardened bodyguard Creasy, alongside Dakota Fanning and Christopher Walken.

The 2004 movie became a major success, earning about $130 million worldwide on a $70 million budget.

Over the years, it has grown into a fan favorite and is still widely watched on streaming platforms and cable TV.

Now, the intense story is getting a fresh new life. Netflix is bringing “Man on Fire” back as a series, set to premiere April 30, 2026, continuing the legacy of this thrilling and emotional tale for a new generation of viewers.
