Alphabet Earnings Surge as Google Cloud Revenue Jumps 82% on AI Demand
Alphabet reports soaring earnings as Google Cloud revenue jumps 82% on strong AI demand, while Gemini reaches 950 million users and cloud contracts exceed $514 billion.
Alphabet has successfully addressed investor concerns regarding its substantial AI investmentswith a robust latest earnings report, clearly demonstrating that its commitment to artificial intelligence is yielding significant returns.
The company's Google Cloud business, a primary beneficiary of accelerated enterprise AI adoption, experienced an impressive 82% year-over-year revenue spike, climbing to $24.8 billion.
This figure not only substantially surpassed the previous quarter's 63% growth but also comfortably exceeded Wall Street analysts' expectations of $22.46 billion, primarily propelled by strong demand for enterprise AI solutions and infrastructure.
Google further solidified its future prospects by reporting a backlog of cloud contracting work that has soared to an astonishing $514 billion, indicating robust future revenue streams.
Overall, Alphabet's financial performance was exceptional, with total profit surging to $112.1 billion, representing a massive increase from the $28.1 billion reported in the prior year.
The company's overall revenue for the quarter also saw a healthy 24% year-over-year increase, reaching $119.8 billion. Google Services, another critical segment, contributed significantly to this growth with a 15% jump in revenue to $94.5 billion.
Google CEO Sundar Pichai emphasized the transformative impact of the company's AI initiatives during Wednesday's earnings call, stating, "Our AI investments are redefining what’s possible across every part of our business" and highlighting "exciting momentum across the board."
This momentum is also clearly evident in the rapidly growing adoption of Gemini, Google’s AI chatbot, which now boasts 950 million monthly active users, a substantial increase from the 750 million users reported in Q4 of 2025.
While Alphabet has a well-established history of consistent financial growth, marking its twelfth consecutive quarter of double-digit revenue growth, this particular period stands out as exceptionally prosperous.
Despite these impressive gains, the company's capital expenditures remain substantial, with an estimated $180 billion to $190 billion allocated for the year to expand data centers and acquire advanced chips.
Analysts pressed Pichai during the earnings call about the expected payoff timeline for these considerable investments, to which he responded with confidence, citing strong demand indicators and long-term deals, affirming that "the dynamics look healthier than where we were about a year ago," which provides the confidence to undertake these investments.
