Manchester Airport Rail Services Halted by Catastrophic Signalling Failure

Major disruptions are currently affecting train services to Manchester Airport, stemming from a significant signalling fault.

National Rail has confirmed that all lines operating between Manchester Piccadilly and the airport are completely blocked due to this system malfunction. Passengers travelling on these routes should anticipate severe impacts on their journeys.

The fault within the signalling system, located between Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Airport, has led to widespread cancellations, substantial delays of up to 45 minutes, or revisions to scheduled train services.

This disruption is expected to persist throughout the remainder of the day, causing considerable inconvenience for commuters and travellers alike.

Several major train operators and their specific routes have been affected by this incident. Northern services between Liverpool Lime Street, Blackpool North, or Barrow-in-Furness and Manchester Airport are impacted.

TransPennine Express routes connecting Scarborough, York, Redcar, Manchester Piccadilly, or Sheffield with Manchester Airport are also experiencing significant issues. Furthermore, Transport for Wales services running between Chester or Holyhead and Manchester Airport are subject to the same disruptions.

Passengers are strongly advised to check with their respective train operators for the latest updates and alternative travel arrangements.
