White House Dinner Chaos: Shooter's Rules Unveiled, Dana White's 'Awesome' Take

A shocking incident unfolded at the White House Correspondents' Dinner when Cole Tomas Allen, a 31-year-old teacher from Torrance, California, attempted to breach a security checkpoint while heavily armed. On Saturday night, Allen, equipped with a shotgun, a handgun, and multiple knives, exchanged fire with Secret Service agents. One agent sustained a strike to their bulletproof vest but is expected to recover, with no other individuals reported harmed during the altercation. Allen was subsequently tackled to the ground and arrested by authorities.
Allen's chilling manifesto, published by the New York Post, revealed his motivations for the attack, his "rules of engagement," and notably, his astonishment at the perceived lax security measures. He expressed disbelief, stating, "What the hell is the Secret Service doing? I expected security cameras at every bend, bugged hotel rooms, armed agents every 10 feet, metal detectors out the wazoo. What I got (who knows, maybe they’re pranking me!) is nothing." Allen further criticized the "sense of arrogance" at the Washington Hilton Hotel, where the dinner was held, pointing out that "The security at the event is all outside... because apparently no one thought about what happens if someone checks in the day before." He even claimed that "if I was an Iranian agent, instead of an American citizen, I could have brought a damn Ma Deuce in here and no one would have noticed sh**," referencing an M2 Browning .50-caliber machine gun.
The manifesto detailed Allen's intent to target top officials within the Trump administration, specifically referring to President Donald Trump as a "pedophile, rapist, and traitor." Allen wrote, "I am no longer willing to permit a pedophile, rapist, and traitor to coat my hands with his crimes," and expressed a long-held desire to act, seizing this as his "first real opportunity." His "rules of engagement" prioritized administration officials (excluding Kash Patel, the director of the FBI, for reasons unknown) from highest to lowest ranking. Secret Service agents, Capitol police, hotel security, and national guardsmen were designated as targets "only if necessary," with an expressed hope to incapacitate them "non-lethally if possible" if they obstructed his path or fired first. Hotel guests and employees, however, were explicitly "not targets at all."
Despite his intent to minimize casualties, Allen stated he would "go through most everyone here to get to the targets" if absolutely necessary, justifying it by claiming attendees "chose to attend a speech by a pedophile, rapist, and traitor, and are thus complicit." He ominously added, "I hope they’re wearing body armor because center mass with shotguns messes up people who *aren’t*." To further minimize harm, his manifesto noted the use of buckshot instead of slugs for "less penetration through walls." Allen apologized to his family, students, and those he encountered en route, signing the document as "Cole 'coldForce' 'Friendly Federal Assassin' Allen." It is believed he traveled by train from California to Washington D.C., possibly to circumvent airport security.
In the aftermath of the incident, federal prosecutors announced charges against Allen, including two counts of using a firearm during a crime of violence and assault on a federal officer using a dangerous weapon. If convicted, he faces a potential 20-year sentence for the assault charge, and a minimum of ten years, with a possibility of life imprisonment, for the weapons charges. United States Attorney for the District of Columbia, Jeanine Pirro, stated, "It is clear, based upon what we know so far, this individual was intent on doing as much harm and as much damage as he could," and anticipated "many more charges."
Allen's background indicates a highly educated and academically accomplished individual with no prior criminal record known to law enforcement. His LinkedIn profile describes him as "A mechanical engineer and computer scientist by degree, independent game developer by experience, teacher by birth." He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the California Institute of Technology and a Master of Science in Computer Science from a California State University.
Amidst the chaos, UFC CEO Dana White, a known ally of Donald Trump, reacted unusually to the events. Sitting near the front of the ballroom, White expressed enthusiasm rather than fear. "All of a sudden, it just started getting noisy," White recounted. "Tables getting flipped over, guys running in with guns and they were screaming ‘Get down!’ I didn’t get down – it was fucking awesome. I literally took every minute of it in. It was a pretty crazy, unique experience." He even thought the shooter might have been near his table when security forces approached. White's bond with Trump, often credited with boosting Trump's popularity among young men through UFC, highlights their connection, with Trump having announced a future fight event at the White House.
