When it was his time to address hundreds of residents who had turned up for the event on Saturday, May 17, Kiborek stunned his audience when he opened his speech in fluent Dholuo dialect.

For nearly a minute, the Baringo-born lawmaker engaged locals in Dhaluo greetings and hype, leaving even some of his colleagues in awe.

The 33-year-old UDA legislator commended Senator Eddie, 34, for initiating empowerment programmes for the youth in a bid to address the unemployment menace.

"The issues affecting the youth are cross-cutting. We have the same challenge in our backyard and other parts of the country, that's why leaders need to work together to deal with this problem. For that, I want to thank Senator Eddie," Kiborek said.

Kiborek, who until 2014 was a herdboy, argued that the challenges the country was grappling with were historical and could only be properly fixed if leaders work together.

He implored Migori residents to support President William Ruto's government under the broad-based framework that brought Raila Odinga and the ODM party on board.

"The problems we have today were caused by previous regimes starting with Mzee Kenyatta, Daniel Moi, Mwai Kibaki and most of them during Uhuru Kenyatta's regime. That is why it's important for us to work together in this government to unite everyone and move forward as one people," added Kiborek.

The first-term lawmaker exuded confidence in President Ruto's government, saying it will eventually surmount the economic challenges and make Kenya a better country.

In an apparent response to Kenya Kwanza critics who have vowed to make Ruto a one-term president (wantam), Kiborek, in a Dhaluo dialect, said "power is taken and not given".

He further asked ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna to go slow on criticising the government and instead be part of the solution.

His remarks came barely a week after Raila Odinga asked the Nairobi senator to be measured in his criticism of the government.

Sifuna has been a fierce critic of the government despite the ODM party signing an MoU with UDA, which formalised their cooperation.
