In September 2024, Ezra Kabuga Kihara, the nominated ward representative for Kiambu, died in a tragic accident on Thika Road in Juja.
Governor Wamatangi shared the heartbreaking news on his social media page, describing Kabuga as a promising young leader.
The governor revealed that the nominated MCA lost his life when his car collided with a lorry and caught fire near Mang’u High School.
The accident occurred at 5:30 am on Sunday, 22 September, as Kabuga was travelling from Nairobi to Thika Town.
Wamatangi said Kabuga’s contributions to the county assembly would be remembered as a testament to his dedication.
He described the late Kabuga as a vibrant and promising leader whose passion for serving the people of Kiambu was evident in all his work.
President William Ruto was among political leaders, especially from the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), who mourned Kabuga’s passing.
In his condolence message, the president recalled Kabuga’s role during the UDA party primaries in 2022.
Ruto said Kabuga’s exceptional leadership skills earned him a place on the UDA National Elections Board technical team.
