Kwankwaso Welcomes Retired Military Officers

Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the National Leader of the Kwankwasiyya movement and former Kano State Governor, has welcomed a delegation of 24 retired military officers into the movement. These officers, all indigenes of Kano State, retired in January 2025 after serving the Nigerian Armed Forces for 35 years. Their decision to join Kwankwasiyya is considered a significant endorsement, boosting the movement’s political structure as the 2027 elections approach.
Hon. Kabiru Getso Haruna, Executive Secretary of the Kano State Scholarship Board, led the delegation. He described their move as a calculated alignment with the values and vision of Kwankwasiyya, emphasizing the officers' disciplined and patriotic service to Nigeria.
Kwankwaso expressed gratitude for their gesture and assured them of a prominent role in advancing democracy, inclusion, and development through the Kwankwasiyya platform. He noted that the involvement of respected professionals like retired officers is critical to building an inclusive political movement anchored on merit, discipline, and service delivery. He highlighted that their commitment will strengthen the collective resolve to build a better Nigeria.
During their visit, the retired officers pledged their unwavering support for the movement and vowed to contribute meaningfully to its success in the upcoming elections. Kwankwaso praised their patriotism and commitment, assuring them that their experience, discipline, and networks would be valuable assets in shaping a more progressive and inclusive Nigeria.
Analysts view the endorsement by this group of military retirees as a morale booster for the Kwankwasiyya movement and a strong signal of its growing reach ahead of 2027. As the build-up to 2027 intensifies, Kwankwaso continues to strengthen his base and expand the national outlook of his political movement.
