Assurances and Declarations Regarding the 2027 Nigerian Election

The All Progressives Congress (APC) North West Zone has endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as its Presidential Candidate for the 2027 general elections. This decision was made during a stakeholders’ meeting in Kaduna, which included key figures such as the National Chairman of the Party, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, APC Governors from the zone (Uba Sani of Kaduna, Nasir Idris of Kebbi, and Umar Namadi of Jigawa), Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dr. Tajudeen Abbas, Deputy President of the Senate, Barau I Jibrin, Ministers from the Zone, and other stakeholders.

The Deputy President of the Senate initiated the endorsement by asking, "Aso Rock?" to which the crowd responded, "No vacancy." Barau further stated that the APC anticipates a landslide victory in 2027 and urged cooperation and collaboration to achieve the desired outcome. He attributed the defection of opposition party members to the APC to President Tinubu’s performance in addressing the country's challenges, including security and economic issues. Barau highlighted improvements in security in the North West, noting that areas previously inaccessible are now open, citing the Abuja to Kaduna route and the Birnin Gwari area as examples.

Ganduje emphasized President Tinubu’s commitment to developing the North West, the entire northern region, and Nigeria through various intervention projects in infrastructure, agriculture, and social development. He pointed to the establishment of the North West Development Commission as evidence of the President’s dedication to the region.

Similarly, the APC has declared that there is no vacancy in Aso Rock ahead of the 2027 presidential election, with Ganduje asserting this stance at the APC north-west stakeholders’ meeting in Kaduna state. This declaration effectively rules out the chances of Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi defeating President Tinubu in the 2027 election. The meeting included governors, federal and state legislators, ministers, and other party stakeholders who assessed the Tinubu administration and strategized for the future, reaffirming their commitment to consolidating the dividends of democracy and sustaining good governance.

Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna stated that the northwest geopolitical zone is witnessing progress under the Tinubu administration, describing the region as the heartbeat of the APC. He applauded President Tinubu’s leadership during challenging times, noting the implementation of bold reforms that are beginning to yield results.

Meanwhile, in Kenya, Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has assured Kenyans that the 2027 elections will be free, fair, and peaceful. Speaking at an interdenominational church service in Amagoro, Teso North Constituency, Busia County, Kindiki urged Kenyans to ignore remarks made by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua regarding election-related violence and cautioned against incitement. He emphasized the importance of unity and stability, denouncing leaders who promote ethnic animosity.

Kindiki vowed that the government would remain steadfast in developing and empowering the Kenyan people through transformative programs in agriculture, education, health, water, roads, markets, and energy. He also dismissed Gachagua's warnings of possible violence if the 2027 elections are rigged, urging politicians to allow the Kenya Kwanza administration to deliver its mandate instead of engaging in perpetual political rhetoric. Kindiki expressed the government’s commitment to improving the cost of living and creating employment opportunities, noting positive results in stabilizing the economy.
