Victor Osimhen picks next club as Man United get huge update after 'transfer talks'
Napoli striker Victor Osimhen has reportedly held talks with Manchester United in recent days but a move to Old Trafford is starting to look unlikely.
Osimhen wanted to leave Napoli permanently last summer however negotiations with interested parties fell through and by the time most of the transfer windows were shut, the Nigerian remained in Naples. Fortunately for Galatasaray, their transfer window shuts later and they were able to benefit from these talks breaking down.
He moved to Istanbul on a season-long loan deal and excelled scoring 37 goals for the Turkish giants. Osimhen has since returned to Italy and has been linked with a host of clubs.
A move to Al Hilal is thought to have been waved away prior to the Club World Cup. Meanwhile, Galatasaray have been working hard to return the 26-year-old to their club and a host of Premier League teams, including United, have also been linked.
According to TBR Football's Graeme Bailey, United have been in talks with Osimhen in recent days but making a move formally for the Nigerian has never been a priority for the Reds. This is believed to have pushed the 26-year-old into setting an ultimatum.
Osimhen is thought to have told United that he is not willing to wait all summer to see if the Reds will make an official move. Therefore, if a move is not made soon, he will be happy to advance his negotiations for a permanent move to Galatasaray.
Were this to happen, it would be seen as a huge coup for Galatasaray and shorten the options available to United to strengthen their attack this summer. Osimhen is thought to still be keen on a move to the Premier League but the priority for him is to ensure his future is decided as soon as possible.
