Manchester United learn £21m transfer reality as deal 'close' to completion
Valencia star Javi Guerra is the latest player to be tipped with a move to Manchester United this summer.
United have been linked with a host of possible new signings throughout the summer transfer window - so far - but have only made one new addition to their squad. Matheus Cunha arrived in June in a £62.5million deal, from Wolves, and United are still yet to announce their second signing of the window.
Guerra is reported to be a target for United this summer. Calciomercato reporter Daniele Longo has claimed that a deal is "close" which would see United bring the midfielder to Old Trafford.
The 22-year-old made 38 appearances for Valencia last season, scoring three goals and providing three assists from the middle of the park. Guera was handed 31 starts in La Liga last term, and only missed two matches in the Spanish top-flight.
Transfermarkt have provided the latest on Guerra's market value - amid that reported interest from United. The site states that the midfielder has a current valuation of €25million (£21.5million), which is the highest it has been across his professional career.
Guerra's market value has increased significantly over the last two years. Back in the summer of 2023, the Spain Under-21 international was valued at just €2million (£1.7million), but an impressive start to the 2023/24 campaign saw his market value skyrocket up to €20million (£17.2million) after just three months.
Based on the numbers from the last 24 months, it would not be a surprise to see Guerra's market value increase significantly yet again in the next few years.
It remains to be seen if the interest from United turns out to be genuine, but if there is a real desire from the club hierarchy to bring Guerra to Old Trafford, it may be better to do it sooner rather than later in order to avoid paying perhaps an even larger transfer fee for his signature.
