Adebayo was photographed alongside Las Vegas Aces star A'ja Wilson, both sporting Golden Knights jerseys, an image that quickly circulated online.

This public display of support for the Golden Knights did not go unnoticed by the Florida Panthers, a team that shares south Florida with Adebayo's Miami Heat. The Panthers' official social media account promptly responded to the viral post with a concise and playful "Bam... wyd" accompanied by a wilted flower emoji, signaling their mock disapproval.

The Panthers' reaction stemmed from Adebayo's previous and vocal support for the hockey team. Last year, the three-time NBA All-Star had not only banged the Panthers' drum before Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final but also celebrated their championship win on social media, sending his congratulations. His recent appearance in a rival team's jersey thus created a lighthearted moment of perceived disloyalty.

Recognizing the need to clarify his allegiance, Adebayo quickly posted a video on X (formerly Twitter), directly tagging the Panthers with the caption: "don't ever disrespect my loyalty." In the video, he displayed a Panthers jersey and explained, "I just want everybody to know... I just couldn't wear it in there 'cause I was with somebody. But, y'all know what it is." The "somebody" he referred to is understood to be his girlfriend, A'ja Wilson, with whom he confirmed his relationship in February 2025, following earlier links since the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The Florida Panthers, appeased by Adebayo's swift clarification, responded positively to his video, affirming, "Bam forever a real one." While Adebayo's loyalties to the Panthers were reaffirmed, the Vegas Golden Knights, whose game he attended, had a successful night regardless.
