Ramadas brings a unique and highly specialized background to the Lakers. A graduate of the University of Southern California, he spent over a decade at the Aerospace Corporation before transitioning to the NBA. His initial foray into professional basketball was with the New Orleans Pelicans, where he served as vice president of strategy and operations. During his tenure with the Pelicans, Ramadas earned the moniker of "rocket scientist" due to his expertise, which included implementing artificial intelligence and coding advanced models to assist the front office in decision-making.

This hiring is part of a broader initiative by the Lakers to strengthen their organizational structure. The team has been actively interviewing various candidates to enhance Pelinka's front office, with multiple face-to-face meetings conducted during the league's predraft camp. In addition to Ramadas's appointment, the Lakers also plan to hire a second assistant general manager. This individual will be tasked with overseeing player draft and evaluation processes, specifically focusing on pro scouting, draft scouting, and player development. Pelinka further indicated that the Lakers, coming off a successful 50-win season, intend to utilize the summer to integrate resources provided by new owner Mark Walter and to strengthen the existing relationship with their "brother-sister organization," the Los Angeles Dodgers, which Walter also owns.
